Anthony is an educator and public health professional with a background in teaching at Chicago Public Schools and in many other settings, like hospitals, shelters and social service agencies. Anthony’s passion is creating non-traditional spaces of education that tie directly to people’s goals and that are affirming, accessible and creative. Originally from Ohio, Anthony has lived in Chicago for 10 years in the Rogers Park neighborhood. Anthony loves all things science fiction and queer, especially the things that are both, as well as reading and spending time with friends.
Ashley has a bachelor’s of arts in sociology from DePaul University. She believes the best thing about her job is she gets to meet with people one-on-one, help them reach their goals, be an advocate for their health and wellbeing. In addition to Ashley’s busy work days of direct client work and juggling grants she also scoops and is a number one fan and Jeni’s Ice Cream.
Carrie is a licensed clinical social worker and has been in the social work field for 11 years. Carrie currently is the Director of Employment Services at Chicago House and Social Service Agency. She has been with the agency for almost seven years starting as the manager and moving into the director role in 2014. Carrie launched the DRS Community Partner Program in July of 2015 and oversees the TransWorks program which was started in 2013 offering employment services to transgender and gender non-conforming individuals.
Carolyn is the TransWorks Career Specialist working with transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary clients to secure employment. Carolyn is a licensed professional counselor and has worked with transgender clients and their families for 10 years as a mental health service provider. At Chicago House, Carolyn provides one on one career counseling to clients, co-facilitates the mentorship program, job readiness trainings, and a weekly drop in space for the transgender community. In her spare time, Carolyn loves to read queer feminist theory, cook, and play board games.
Jane Rhea (ray) is an Autistic woman, zealous about community organizing and building capacity for advocacy. She brings her experience and connection in the Disability community to the employment team. When she’s not zeroed in on Disability Studies, Jane Rhea enjoys reading, playing music, and baking.
Hayley is the Outreach Specialist. She strengthens the Employment Program by connecting with potential employers and recruiting new clients. She loves helping clients recognize their strengths, solidify their passions, and gain confidence in their skills. Outside of Chicago House, Hayley enjoys cooking vegetarian meals, writing comedy, and relaxing with her family and friends.
Lathem is the TransWorks Program Manager. In this role, he enjoys building sustainable relationships between individuals, communities and organizations. He is passionate about advocating for the trans/GNC community, and does this through conducting employer trainings, job-readiness workshops, and the TransWorks mentorship program. Lathem’s educational/employment background is in Human Sexuality Studies, research, and training. When he isn’t working, he loves going on local adventures and taking road trips outside of the city.
Lynnea is the Associate Director of the Employment program and has worked in social services for over 15 years. She has a passion for developing programs for the LGBTQ community, working to improve systems within organizations and being a support for staff. Outside of NPO work Lynnea has a passion for anything vintage, is a vintage dealer, a miniature dog lover and a proud born and raised Chicagoan
