“If I had to point out one key element of Chicago House's Employment Program that contributed to my success, I would say that the team as a whole saw my idea of success the way I did. Success to me does not mean just finding a job, but building a career. The Employment Program helps with education goals as well as career goals, and that makes the difference.”
-“Gary,” an Employment Program client
The mission of the Chicago House's Employment Program is to increase individual income and independence for people living with HIV/AIDS. Training, career counseling, mentorship, and internship opportunities are provided to help individuals achieve greater self-sufficiency and productivity, ultimately leading to successful employment.
Services include employment preparation, job placement assistance, career counseling and exploration, free voicemail, transportation assistance, networking opportunities, referrals for literacy training, computer courses and other educational resources, and post-employment support services.
The Internship Program through the Employment Program offers a great opportunity to clients looking to gain job experience. Participants complete one- to three-month long internships to gain new skills and real life experience in a variety of fields. This program provides opportunity for participants to establish a work history, employer references and network to find permanent employment.
