Chicago House's four residential facilities give these Chicagoans more than just an address. Chicago House opens the door to opportunities most have never had: a permanent home; a place to learn and practice the techniques of everyday living; and a community of professionals and peers who provide dignity, encouragement and hope.
Chicago House offers three residential programs:
The Supportive Living Program: A 16-unit group living facility in Chicago's West Town neighborhood, which provides the "first step" of housing and supportive services to individuals who come to us directly from the streets or the shelter system;
The Independent Living Program: A 24-unit apartment building in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood, which provides permanent housing to those in need of affordable housing with supportive services available to meet intermittent needs;
The Family Support Program: Offers housing, case management, and other support services to twelve HIV- and AIDS-affected families, including over 30 dependent children. The program works intensively with both parents and children to help them deal with issues arising from homelessness and poverty, in addition to HIV and AIDS. The program has two facilities in the Uptown neighborhood.
