After serving as Chicago House’s CEO for sixteen years, the Rev. Stan Sloan stepped down from his post in the summer of 2016. Sloan’s legacy includes a slew of program and funding expansion for Chicago House, including establishing the Employment Program (the first of its kind in the nation for individuals living with HIV/AIDS) as well as the Scattered-Site Housing (which more than doubled the amount of participants the agency housed), Prevention, and TransLife Care programs. The agency also expanded its focus to individuals at risk of HIV and increased prevention efforts, including PrEP uptake, under Sloan. Prior to accepting the position as CEO in 2000, Sloan gained experience in social services through work with individuals experiencing marginalization due to homelessness, poverty, and/or HIV. He was inducted into the Chicago Gay & Lesbian Hall of Fame in 2010.
