The 2008 expansion of the Fred Woods building in Uptown increased the capacity of the Family Support Program from nine units of family supportive housing to fifteen units. Mayor Richard M. Daley was among those in attendance for the new addition’s ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Home to the Family Support Program since 1996, the Fred Woods building houses families whose head of household is living with HIV. FSP provides wraparound services including case management and after-school programming. Since 2008, Fred Woods has housed more than 40 families.
